Abstract

The article analyzes the discourse on sexuality in the German Salafism scene: who determines the discourse, how is it disse- minated, which ideas of sexuality are characteristic? Relevant pronouncements from various actors are examined. This leads to three theses: (1) The interpretation of the religious sources sometimes leads to ideas of sexuality that differ from the domi- nant normativity. (2) The concepts of sexuality are based on patriarchal assumptions and desires; they are, for example, also determined by the fear of the attraction of female sexuality. (3) There is a tension between the positive attitude towards sexuality and its taboo.
