Abstract

Sexuality is also relevant at an advanced age. Nevertheless, there are hardly any educational offerings in geriatric care that deal with this topic. As part of a research project, the authors conducted a qualitative study on enabling sexuality in nursing homes. The results from a survey of specialists on professional interaction, dealing with privacy and attitudes to further training are presented here. The results of the study illustrate the need for a professional and accepting approach to dealing with lived and verbalized sexuality as well as the need for destigmatization, enabling and specific further education.
